How to write your medical assistant resume

  1. Split clinical and administrative skills

Employers often hire for one side more than the other. Group your skills so the reader sees both clinical tasks (vitals, phlebotomy, EKG) and office tasks (scheduling, billing, insurance).

  2. Show your certification

Write CMA, RMA or CCMA after your name and name the certifying body. Many clinics require or prefer certification.

  3. Give the size of the practice

Patients per day and the number of providers you support show the pace you are used to.

  4. Name the EHR

List the records system you use, such as Epic, athenahealth or eClinicalWorks.

  5. Include your externship if you are new

If you have just finished training, describe your externship like a job, with the procedures you performed and the hours you completed.
