How to write your human resources resume

  1. Measure your HR work

Time to fill, retention, number of hires, cases resolved or training completion rates show impact in a role that is often seen as support.

  2. Name your HR systems

Workday, BambooHR, ADP or SAP SuccessFactors: list the HRIS and applicant tracking systems you know.

  3. Show the size and type of workforce

Supporting 50 office staff is different from 400 shift workers across two sites. Give the headcount, locations and employee types.

  4. Include certifications

SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR or a local equivalent belongs next to your name or in its own section.

  5. Keep confidentiality in mind

Describe employee relations work in general terms. Never include names or details of individual cases.
